What We Carry

The full spectrum of mobility, from temporary aids to powered scooters.

Three core categories cover most patient needs. Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a long-term mobility limitation, or aging in place with reduced range, we have equipment to match.

Walking aids

Canes (single-point and quad), standard walkers, rollators with seats and brakes, knee scooters for post-surgical non-weight-bearing recovery, and crutches. The right walking aid often depends on whether stability or rest matters more.

Wheelchairs & transport chairs

Manual wheelchairs for daily use, lightweight transport chairs for car-and-appointment trips, bariatric models in higher weight capacities, and certain power wheelchairs where medical necessity supports them.

Scooters & lift chairs

Three- and four-wheel mobility scooters in multiple sizes and capabilities, plus lift chairs in two-position, three-position, and infinite- position recline configurations. Showroom test rides recommended for both.

Why The Showroom Matters

Mobility equipment should be tested before purchase.

Online catalogs and big-box stores let you buy mobility equipment sight unseen. That works for some patients and goes badly for others. The showroom exists for a reason.

Try before you commit

Feeling how a walker fits your stride, whether a lift chair supports your back, or whether a scooter turns the way you expect — these are decisions that go better with hands-on testing than with online photos.

Sizing & fit

Walker handle height, wheelchair seat width, lift chair height — all of these need to match your body. Standard sizes work for many patients; some need fitted or bariatric options that aren't obvious until you try.

Delivery & setup

Larger items (lift chairs, scooters, hospital beds) deliver to your home with setup included. No fighting with a heavy box from a shipping truck or trying to figure out the recline mechanism yourself.

Insurance handled on our end

For Medicare and commercial insurance-covered mobility items, we handle prescription intake and documentation. You don't have to navigate the insurance paperwork yourself.

What We Stock

Specific equipment organized by category.

The categories below cover what's typically on the showroom floor. Specific brands and models rotate based on supplier availability; call ahead if you need a specific item.

Walkers & rollators

  • Standard walkersFour-legged walkers (with or without front wheels), folding for car transport, in standard and bariatric weight capacities
  • Rollators with seatsFour-wheel rollators with built-in seats, hand brakes, and storage baskets — various seat heights and widths
  • Knee scootersFor non-weight-bearing recovery from foot or ankle surgery — commonly rented for the recovery period rather than purchased

Wheelchairs

  • Manual wheelchairsSelf-propelled and attendant-propelled models, various seat widths and weight capacities, with footrests and arm rests
  • Transport chairsLightweight chairs for moving patients to appointments and short trips — smaller wheels, easier to lift into a car trunk
  • Bariatric & heavy-dutyHigher weight capacities, wider seats, and reinforced frames for patients above standard weight limits

Mobility scooters

  • Three-wheel scootersTighter turning radius, better for indoor use and confined spaces. Compact models disassemble for car transport.
  • Four-wheel scootersMore stability on uneven outdoor surfaces, typically higher weight capacity and longer battery range
  • Travel-portable modelsLightweight, disassembling scooters for patients who travel and need to transport the scooter in a car or RV

Lift chairs

  • Two-positionLifts you to standing or reclines slightly — entry-level option for patients who mainly need the lift function
  • Three-positionAdds a partial recline for napping in addition to the upright and lift positions
  • Infinite-positionIndependent control of back and footrest — full recline including zero-gravity positions, often preferred for sleeping or longer recovery periods

Where To Go

Defiance is the mobility location. Showroom, fittings, delivery hub.

Mobility equipment requires hands-on testing and in-person fitting in most cases. Defiance is the lead location; Paulding handles smaller items and can transfer larger equipment locally.

How To Get Started

From showroom visit to delivery in your home.

The typical path from deciding you need mobility equipment to having it in use.

1

Call or stop by Defiance

No appointment needed for the showroom. If you're looking at specific scooter or lift chair models, calling ahead helps us have them ready. Bring your prescription if you have one.

2

Try equipment in person

Walkers, rollators, transport chairs, and most scooters and lift chairs are available to test on the showroom floor. Our team helps with sizing, feature comparisons, and insurance questions.

3

Insurance & documentation

For insurance-covered items, we coordinate with your provider for prescriptions and medical necessity documentation. Cash-pay items skip this step.

4

Take it home or schedule delivery

Smaller items go home with you the same day. Lift chairs, scooters, and other large items schedule for delivery and in-home setup — typically within a week of order.

Common Questions

Mobility equipment questions, answered.

The questions we hear most from patients shopping for mobility equipment.

Does Medicare cover mobility equipment?
Medicare Part B covers many mobility items with the appropriate prescription and documentation of medical necessity — including walkers, rollators, manual wheelchairs, and certain powered mobility devices. Each category has its own documentation requirements; powered scooters and power wheelchairs have particularly strict criteria. Lift chairs have a unique coverage pattern: Medicare covers the lift mechanism portion only, not the chair itself, with the rest as patient responsibility. We handle the billing and documentation for items we supply.
Can I try out a walker, wheelchair, or lift chair before I buy?
Yes — and we strongly encourage it. Our Defiance showroom has working examples of walkers, rollators, wheelchairs, transport chairs, mobility scooters, and lift chairs. Trying them in person makes the difference: feeling how a walker fits your height, how a scooter turns, how a lift chair supports your back. Showroom visits don't require an appointment, but for lift chairs and scooters, calling ahead lets us have specific models ready.
Do you deliver mobility equipment to my home?
Yes. Larger items — lift chairs, hospital beds, mobility scooters, heavier wheelchairs — we deliver and set up in your home. Smaller items (walkers, canes, transport chairs) you can typically take with you from the showroom, but we'll deliver if that's easier. Delivery area is local to our Northwest Ohio service region; we'll confirm specifics when you call.
What’s the difference between a walker and a rollator?
A traditional walker has four legs that you pick up and place forward with each step — better for patients who need maximum stability and don't move quickly. A rollator has four wheels, a seat, and hand brakes — you push it forward continuously while walking, with the option to sit and rest. Rollators are often better for patients who can walk independently but tire easily or need occasional rest stops. We can demo both side by side at the Defiance showroom.
Which mobility scooter is right for me?
Depends on how you'll use it. Three-wheel scooters turn tighter and are easier indoors; four-wheel scooters are more stable outdoors and on uneven surfaces. Weight capacity, battery range, and whether the scooter disassembles for car transport all matter. We carry several models at different price points and capabilities — the showroom visit lets you test-drive options and ask specific questions about how each fits your lifestyle. Medicare-covered scooters have specific documentation requirements we'll walk through if relevant.
How does Medicare lift chair coverage work?
Medicare Part B covers the lift mechanism portion of a lift chair — typically a few hundred dollars — when prescribed for a qualifying medical condition. The cost of the chair itself (upholstery, recline mechanism, frame) is patient responsibility. So a $1,500 lift chair might have ~$300 covered by Medicare and ~$1,200 as your out-of-pocket cost. We'll explain the specific math for whichever chair you choose.
Do you carry bariatric (heavy-duty) mobility equipment?
We carry some bariatric mobility equipment in stock and can order additional sizes and weight capacities as needed. Heavy-duty walkers, wheelchairs, transport chairs, and lift chairs are available at higher weight ratings than standard equipment. Call us with the patient's weight and needs and we'll confirm what's in stock or how quickly we can order.
Can I rent mobility equipment instead of buying?
Some mobility items work well as rentals — particularly for short-term needs like recovery from surgery, short visits from family members, or trying out a piece of equipment before committing. Knee scooters and certain wheelchairs are commonly rented. Other items (lift chairs, scooters) are typically purchase-only. Call to discuss what's available for rental and current rates.
